A Fresh Start at Brick Road Coffee: New Roasts, New Spaces, and a Focus on Wellness

As we turn the page on 2024, I’ve been reflecting on what “new beginnings” mean for Brick Road. Last year brought remarkable growth and change: In June, we acquired Empower Coffee Roasters in Mesa. By September, we were roasting all our coffee in-house at that very location. And in November, we signed a lease to expand the Mesa site, paving the way for our future production roasting facility—home to Prism Coffee Lab, our in-house roasting arm. With so much momentum behind us, you might be wondering: What’s next?

For me, it’s not just about expanding our physical space or introducing new flavors. It’s about breathing new life into every sip you take and supporting your well-being along the way. We’re entering a chapter filled with renewal, growth, and choices that nourish mind, body, and soul.

A New Mesa Location & Production Roasting Facility
Bringing our roasting in-house has always been a dream, and with Empower Coffee Roasters now part of our family, it’s a reality. Construction has begun on our expanded Mesa facility, which will soon include a dedicated production roasting space for Prism Coffee Lab. More than just a larger footprint, this new facility will give us room to innovate, experiment, and learn—ensuring our coffee remains vibrant and full of life. We’re also excited to introduce a private event and meeting space, creating a welcoming hub for community gatherings and shared experiences.

With Prism Coffee Lab guiding our roasting, we have complete control over every batch, fine-tuning each flavor note and aroma. This hands-on approach guarantees coffee that’s brighter, fresher, and more vibrant—an invitation to start each day with a positive and uplifting cup.

Prism Coffee Labs doesn’t just shape how we craft our coffee; it influences the values behind it. Their boundary-pushing approach to sourcing, flavor, and brewing inspires us to consider: “What’s possible if we think differently?” By following Prism’s lead, we’ve broadened our search for coffee farms that prioritize dignity, inclusion, and positive social impact—places creating safe environments for trans communities and other marginalized groups.

Through Prism’s innovative spirit, we’ve learned that celebrating coffee’s complexity means celebrating the people at its source. Expanding Our Partnership & Tea Selection with Drink Me! Tea
Wellness has always mattered to me, and not everyone recharges in the same way. That’s why we’ve expanded our partnership with Drink Me! Tea, a local, women-owned Tempe business you already know and love for their gluten-free and vegan pastries—like our cinnamon coffee cake and chocolate chip banana bread. Now, we’re delighted to offer their premium teas in-house and at retail.

From soothing herbal blends, like the new Raspberry Lemon Herbal Iced Tea, to antioxidant-rich green teas and calming herbal infusions like Provence (Blueberry Lavender), these teas aren’t just about variety.
